CLEARWATER, S.C. - Sheriff Michael Hunt is pulling double duty in Aiken County.

He was named Clearwater’s new fire chief during Thursday night’s commission meeting.

Hunt replaces Mike Toole.

Toole was dismissed following accusations he inappropriately touched a 17-year-old girl.

Clearwater Commissioners tell NBC Augusta 26 News charges against Toole were dropped after he wrote a letter of apology to the accuser.

Hunt will keep his position with the Sheriff’s Office.

He obstructed justice by holding back on issuing the dated arrest warrant on former fire chief Mike Toole and now this SOB violates our state's law on dual office holding and takes this man's job. He's not much of a friend or loyal volunteer fireman. Wouldn't want him near my house even if it was burning down.

This is illegal and a violation of the dual office holding law. He got Fire Chief Mike Toole arrested for nothing, obstructed issuance of that warrant for 18 months, said he didn't want the job and now is chief. He's a liar and criminal. SLED should investigate him for misconduct in office, etc.
