How does 100 miles per-gallon sound? It's become enticing enough for some people to park their gas guzzlers and climb onto a 'bike'.

In the ever-changing world of gas prices, there's a mode of transportation gaining popularity.

For $1,100 or roughly 315 gallons of regular unleaded gas, a scooter could be yours.

"People come in looking just for something to get better gas mileage to get back and forth from work," Mike Reeves said.

Reeves sells the two-wheeled fuel efficient scooters. As the price of gas continues to climb, so does his business. Reeves says scooter sales are up more than 30 percent and he doesn't see it slowing down anytime soon.

"I think we're going to see a lot more people driving these," he said.

It's not just the scooter business that's taking off.

"If gas keeps climbing, motorcycles, I think, will become part of certain people's family households," David Heath said.

Motorcycle dealers are cashing in as well.

"Now that gas is climbing the scale, it seems to be picking up a little bit, seems to be doing a lot better," Heath said.

According to AAA, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in the Augusta area is $3.52 a gallon. That's up more than 35 cents from a month ago.
