Certain summer sandals may be to blame for knee, hip and back pain.

"It has no torque support, it's got no arch support and although it is rubber and you would think it has good cushioning, but it doesn't even have that good of a cushion," explained Podiatrist Dr. Richard Green.

A new study from the American College Of Sports Medicine found flip-flop wearers tend to take smaller strides, and alter the way they walk just to keep the sandals on.

You can love them and feel good too.

Just choose a pair with these three key elements.

First, arch support.

Second, a thick sole.

Third, a heel stopper.

Flip-flops can cost between two bucks to upwards of 80-dollars a pair.

But, price doesn't necessarily make it a better fit.

So again, look for the pair that has the added support and cushion.

After all, most of us take a ten to 20-thousand steps a day, so you want to make each one as comfortable as possible.

I luv flip flops--I have every kind I've ever seen--BUT, 2 MONTHS ago I began to have numbness on the bottom of my feet & my toes--looked on line, not much info--decided maybe the thong between the toes was putting pressure on the nerve--reluctantly retired them & wore my sensible shoes--yup, the numbness is all but gone--but I hate the sensible shoes & I shall return to my beloved flip flops--maybe not every day but I'm not going thru summer in sensible shoes!
