Folks have been buzzing about this new movie for months and now it's finally here: the latest installment of the Batman Series. Thanks to die-hard fans, "The Dark Knight" has already raked in more than $18 million and has broken the record for the highest grossing midnight debut.

“I think the build up is due to everything with Heath Ledger and I said we haven’t seen that,” said Ryan Deghelder, fan.

Batman fans say this movie is a lot different from the previous installments, with Christian Bale and director-screenwriter Christopher Nolan's dark interpretation of the caped crusader.

“I want to see the Batman I like, the darker Batman. The past movies have been a lot more comedic,” said Jeremy Miller, fan.

The performance we've all been awaiting for, the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. Movie goers say he took the character to a whole different level.

"You could tell he went all out for his character," said Deghelder.

The dark twist and special effects makes this movie a must see in theaters.

At the Regal Cinemas in Augusta, "The Dark Knight" is being shown in 5 theaters. It plays every 30 minutes.
