A 12-year- Augusta boy has admitted to taking part in the deadly shooting of his neighbor.

Roosevelt Cowins, 65 of Augusta, was shot to death during a home invasion on March 19.

The boy, along with Willie Casey, is accused of going to the victim's home to collect a debt.

The boy said Casey shot the victim twice and then he shot Cowins a third time.

Casey hanged himself in jail shortly after the incident.

The boy can't be charged with murder as an adult because he is too young by Georgia statute.

He could be held in a state juvenile detention center until he turns 21.

The teen is expected to be in court July 30 to find out what punishment he will face.

this is sad.Are kids need more guidance in their lives so things like these will not happen. It is just a cring shame that this has happened. I pray for the family of the victim. And I believe murder is murder no matter what age the person is.

The Corrector needs to take his/her own advice. I do believe you spelled these incorrectly. But then again, my 8 year old noticed that as well. And I agree with Ruth. Even if you spell murder incorrectly, it is still murder regardless. So, stop trying to point out everyone's errors and focus more on the "big picture". Perhaps a good massage would make you feel better.

That's the important part you obtained from this story?? That there is a mis-spelling? Who cares?! I think the bigger story is that a 12 year old committed murder.

It is March 19, not "Marcy 19". Does anyone ever check for mis-spellings or accuracy in the media thses days?
