By NBC Augusta Staff

The Palmetto House at 7 Gables in North Augusta burned to the ground late Thursday night. The fire started around 10:30 p.m. at the former Seven Gables Inn.

The business which serves as a banquet facility for private parties is located at the corner of Georgia and Butler avenues.

At least three dozen firefighters were called out to help get the fire under control.

Firefighters tell NBC Augusta no one was hurt and the fire did not threaten any other structures. There’s no word yet on what caused it.

i used to work at the Palmetto House..it was a very nice building and its a shame that it burnt down. I was a chef there and enjoyed being around that building. It was old and historic and will be missed in the community.
