Patrols increased at Burke County High School after explosion

By Tina Terry tterry@nbcaugusta.com

WAYNESBORO, Ga. - There are extra patrols at Burke County High School this week.

The Sheriff says he's assigned about 12 extra deputies to patrol the high school.

Someone set off a homemade explosive device in the school's common area last week. The sound created a panic in the school. Hundreds of students went home for the day.

The culprit has not been identified, but investigators say they've sent a video of the incident to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for analysis.
