AUGUSTA, Ga. - Another Georgia-Carolina car dealer is getting ready to say goodbye.

Augusta Dodge announced Tuesday, that on June 9, it won't be a part of the Chrysler family after 12 years in Augusta.

The owner of Augusta Dodge, Greg Helfrich, says he's disappointed, but understands Chrysler has to eliminate hundreds of dealerships during its bankruptcy.

"They're doing what they feel like they need to do to survive,” said Helfrich. “I don't think the dealers across the nation had anything to do with their shortcomings. We're nearly an outlet that buys cars and parts from them. We have nothing to do with their operations."

Augusta Dodge says all of its cars' life-time warranties will still be honored at any Chrysler dealer.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time now (even before the downturn), and this should be no surprise to anyone. It's time for Chrysler to take a close look at where they want to be moving forward and stop being satisfied with just making pretty good vehicles. As far as warranties go...there is another dealership in the area folks.

After 4 Dodge vehicles from the Dodge dealer on Gordon Highway since 1990 - 1990 Dakota, 1996 Ram 1500, 2004 Dakota, & 2008 Avenger - I will have to find another place to but and get service.
