Officers blow up explosive device in Wilkes County

TIGNALL, Ga. - Crews in Wilkes County were busy with an explosive situation Wednesday.

The bomb squad detonated an explosive device at a home on Church Street in Tignall.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation tells 26 News the explosive was active and could have caused "significant" damage. No arrests have been made.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting GBI with this case.

Hey WAGT -- Hate to question your Geography, but last time I checked, Tignall was still in Wilkes County, about 9 miles from Washington, Georgia, but considerably farther from Washington County!
