AUGUSTA, Ga. - The streak of consecutive days with daytime high temperatures 90 degrees or higher in Augusta ended Tuesday at 28. The high temperature at Augusta, Bush Field was 87 degrees Tuesday, July 7.
The streak of very hot days began June 9 with a high of 92 degrees. The high hit 100 degrees on June 27 and July 1. No record high temperatures were established during this hot stretch.
Heat streaks are not uncommon in the Aiken-Augusta region. The region endured streaks of 27 days during the summers of 2007 and 2008. A streak of 36 consecutive days with 90 degree temperatures or higher was recorded during July and August of 1999.
