Augusta Looks Forward To Downtown Development In 2008

"2008 will be a banner year for downtown," said Lara Plocha, the owner of Blue Magnolia.

Her brother also owns a business downtown.

They say they're most excited about residents moving to developments like the White's building.

"We'll have a lot of groundbreakings downtown," said Mayor Deke Copenhaver.

He said he's most excited about the Business Improvement District.
It will work to keep downtown clean.

"We'll have golf carts picking up trash," said the mayor. "It will be cleaner than it's ever been before.

A renewed push to bring the ballpark downtown is also in the works.

Next door, the Golf & Gardens January reopen January 5th

"I know we've got a great 2008 to look forward to," said Copenhaver.
