A roadblock to Augusta's new main library is out of the way.

The owner of a HUD property near 9th and Greene streets signed a deal to sale the property to the city Monday.

The building stands on a plot of land where the new main library
will go. Negotiating the sale of the property has delayed the library's construction.

It was slated to open in 2008, but now construction may not start until next year. NBC Augusta will let you know when construction begins.
