Clemson Reaches Contract Agreement With Tommy Bowden

By Associated Press

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson says it's reached agreement on a
contract extension with football coach Tommy Bowden.

The announcement late Tuesday morning comes as Bowden's name was being mentioned in published reports as under consideration for the vacant job at Arkansas.

The school issued a statement quoting Bowden as saying he is
``very pleased'' with the extension.

Details of the new agreement were not immediately available.

Clemson finished the year with a 9 and 3 record. The Tigers will
take on Auburn in the Chik-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on December 31st.

Bowden is 69 and 41 at Clemson.

Arkansas' Houston Nutt quit last month and took the vacant job
at Mississippi.
