ASU Golf Program Loses Scholarships Because Of Low Grades

By Jason Folk jfolk@nbcaugusta.com

Some athletes at Augusta State University and other Georgia Colleges are not making the grade. It will affect their sports programs as the NCAA has taken away scholarships.

The NCAA released its Academic Progress Report or ARP Tuesday. It requires scholar athletes to maintain certain NCAA academic standards.

The Augusta State men's golf team fell below those standards, and they will lose scholarships. Georgia Southern and the University of South Carolina will also be affected.

GSU will lose scholarships in both football and men's golf and the USC men's basketball team also lost a scholarship.
