After nine years on the anchor desk at NBC 26 News, sports director Chris Kane is moving on. Chris will be pursuing his love of golf at The Golf Channel in Orlando, Florida.
"I'll get to cover my favorite sport on a full-time basis and I am looking forward to this new opportunity," said Kane.
Chris began his career at NBC 26 as the weekend sportscaster in August 1997. He was quickly promoted to sports director and has covered several Masters Tournaments.
He's also reported from the PGA Championship, World Series, Sugar Bowl and the Summer Olympics.
"I am going to deeply miss all of my co-workers and friends that I've made in the Augusta area", said Kane. "Nine years ago, I accepted a sports anchor job at NBC 26 sight unseen. It turned out to be the greatest move I've ever made. I will never forget the incredible hospitality and generosity of the Augusta community."
An award-winning sportscaster, Chris is known for his “Raising Kane” segments which ran at the end of all his sportscasts through the years.
"From the Masters to school sports, Chris made local sports coverage what it should be -- fun and exciting," said news director Scott Brady. "Chris has a true passion for sports coverage and you can see it every time he goes on the air."
"While I've been fortunate to live out many of my sportscasting dreams at NBC 26, it's the day-to-day interaction with area coaches and athletes that I will miss the most," said Kane. "Our philosophy has always been local first. We wanted to go beyond the score, producing creative feature stories that matter most to area sports fans."
Chris' last day on the air was Friday.
