COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Spurrier said Thursday he'll spend more time working with the team's quarterbacks than he had his first three years with the program. Spurrier laughed off speculation that growing frustration trying to build South Carolina into a contender in the Southeastern Conference would lead him to walk away, as he did after two terrible years with the NFL's Washington Redskins.

Spurrier says he knew things wouldn't change overnight and is
confident the program's best days are ahead. The Gamecocks were 6-1 and ranked No. 6 in the country last year
before losing their final five games.
