ASU volleyball continues hot streak with 3-0 win over UNC Pembroke

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State swept UNC Pembroke 3-0 Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference matchup in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The win was the fifth straight for the Jaguars, in their first season under head coach Sharon Bonaventure. The victory lifted ASU to 13-8 overall and to 4-4 in the PBC. The loss dropped UNCP to 7-12 overall and 1-6 in the league. Senior Jessica Howard racked up a match-high 20 kills against just two errors while sophomore Lagi Roberts and freshman Mandy Irizarry each kicked in seven kills. Senior Lindsey Weider tallied a team-high 18 digs and Roberts added 13. Sophomore setter Ashley Zappitell booked a match-high 44 assists. Tiara Anderson paced the Braves with 15 kills while Andrea Laza managed 21 digs and Sam Wylie and Jessica Hartley added 10 digs each. Wylie also recorded 39 assists for UNCP. The Jags host PBC newcomer Montevallo on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
