What does Augusta have in common with the cities of Portland Maine, Lancaster California, and Lowell Massachusetts?

All of them are having a major impact on this years world series. You see all of them at one point or the other have been home to Boston Red Sox minor league affiliates, and arguably out of all those cities Augusta is having the biggest impact.

Five current Red Sox players came through here on their trip to the big leagues. One of those players, the man who has to be number 1 on everyone in Boston's myspace page at this point, Dustin Pedroia.

The former Green Jacket shortstop became the first rookie in major league baseball history to lead off a world series game with a home run.

Other players of note on the current Boston roster who got their start here including pitcher Tim Wakefield and first baseman Kevin Youkolis.
