Among those on hand for th contest between the Greenjackets and hagerstown Suns was war hero and baseball legend Lou Brissie from North Augusta who was awarded the Bronze star and Purple Heart in World War II... and after 23 operations on the leg that was shattered in the war... came back to pitch for 7 seasons in the major leagues.
