Augusta, GA – The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 22-11) completed the four game sweep of the Lake County Captains (41-29, 12-21) on Wednesday night with a 3-2 win. Starter Daryl Maday got the win and Angel Villalona’s RBI single in the third proved to be the difference maker.

Augusta took the early lead in the first inning when Thomas Neal connected for an RBI sac fly to right-field scoring Shane Jordan for a 1-0 lead. Jordan led off the first inning with a double then moved up to third on a ground out.

The GreenJackets made it 2-0 in the second inning when the GreenJackets connected for three consecutive two-out singles with Juan Ciriaco’s single driving in Nestor Rojas for a 2-0 lead.

The Captains got a single run in the top of the third inning on a two-out RBI single from Lucas Montero to pull within one but Augusta got the run back in the bottom half on an RBI single from Villalona to make the score 3-1.

Lake County scored its final run in the sixth inning on a one-out solo homer from Adam White to cut the lead to one again. Maday (9-4) worked 6.2 innings allowing both runs on six hits. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out five. Waldis Joaquin worked 1.1 scoreless innings in relief striking out one and not allowing a hit.
Andrew De La Garza recorded his seventh save of the season working a scoreless ninth.

The GreenJackets are off on Thursday then begin an eight game road trip on Friday, July 25. The GreenJackets begin the road trip in Rome, GA against the Braves and Augusta sends right-hander T.J. Brewer (6-4, 3.25) to the mound in the first game. The Braves will counter by sending left-hander Erick Cordier (0-0, 1.54). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
