...his 688 victories... more than 20 a season... is the best ever in Georgia High School baseball... and during that 33 years he has never had a losing season.

The baseball field at Westside was named in his honor and players, coaches, families and friends gathered at the teams state of the art batting facilty to pay tribute to the man who helped put Westside baseball on the map. Barnes led the Patriots to to back-to-back state championships in 1987-88 and is quick to share the accolades
