Weather Wreaks Havoc On Jaguars At NCAA Golf Championships

Stan Byrdy

To say that Augusta State was as cold as the weather during round one of the NCAA Golf Championships would be true since cold and winds gusting up to 40 miles an hour met the Jaguars off the tee in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Jaguars were plus 38 on day one and everybody except Southern Cal and UCLA were double digits over par.

Clemson is in 4th place at plus 13 Georgia is 8th at 15 over par and the 'Dawgs and Tigers actually got to play in the afternoon when the weather was much better.

When you consider that the Jaguars are 38 over consider also that on this U.S. Open style course with high rough at the 7,450-yard Kampen Course at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex scoring was tough to come by for everybody on day one.
