Like they have for years, golf's "Big Three" brought the house down again at the Augusta National... Palmer with a great shot here to get to within 22 inches of the pin... just an easy putt from there.
Master Jack followed Arnies cue... and says hey, I can do that too... answering back with a shot to within 7 inches... and the roar you heard throughout Augusta today that nearly backs it in. Talk about a blast from the past. And the patrons at Augustan National enjoyed every moment of it as the greats were in their element.
...and of course its all about the next generation... Scott Verplank's kids saying daddy... can I have that golf ball???
...there were also several aces in todays par 3 event... Wayne Grady at the 9tgh hole from 112 yards out... over the pond and in the cup...
...at the 102 yard 7th hole... 1992 champion Fred Couples sends the crowd to its feet...
...likewise Paul Azinger from 70 yards out at the second hole today... .
..and Charles Coody your 1971 winner with an ace from teh 90 yard 3rd hole...
...it was Rory Sabbatini with the birdie at the 9th hole to go to -5 and win the par 3 event. So Sabatini now tries and break that Masters jinx... and attempt to win the main event that begins tomorrow.
Tiger Woods is the favorite to win his 5th Green Jacket in this years event. He did not take part in the Par 3 Tournament.
