Ballesteros responding well

MADRID, Spain (AP) _ La Paz Hospital says Seve Ballesteros is
``evolving favorably'' after undergoing surgery last week on a
cancerous brain tumor.

The hospital said in a one-sentence statement released Wednesday
that Ballesteros remains in intensive care and also had a
tracheotomy, a procedure it called common in cases like his.

Ballesteros underwent a 6-hour surgery Friday on the brain
tumor and the hospital said it went better than expected. The
surgery removed the rest of the 51-year-old Spaniard's tumor and
reduced swelling on his brain.
