AUGUSTA, GA - With Disney on ice its hosting its final program last weekend... and the Augusta Lynx disbanding as an ECHL franchise... there is no longer the need for ice at James Brown Arena.

Oh, that once beautiful shimmering ice that hosted the Augusta Lynx Hockey team is now gone... the white paint underneath the ice has been washed away.. and with it the last remants of a 10 year franchise... down the drain... hard to watch for hockey fans... because when they were done the floor of James Brown Arena was down to the bare concrete now... and with it the finalization that Lynx hockey is really gone.

While many of the Lynx players have now caught on with other teams... those in operations like Trainer/Strength coach Chad Weprin are still cleaning things out... and having a tougher time catching on.
Bottom line, the sport of hockey is being hard hit with the downturn in the economy and the closing of the Augusta franchise may be just the tip of the iceberg.
