HARLEM, Ga. - The Harlem softball team is gearing up for what they hope will be a long run through the upcoming Georgia state playoffs. Head coach Mike Leverett says if everything falls into place this team could be bringing home some hardware in a few weeks.

"If we play good I think we can beat anybody, but you know we're young and I don't want to over exaggerate. I think if we make the easy plays we can definitely give it a shot,” said Leverett.

"I believe we will win. We work hard and coach teaches us what to do and how to do it. I just think we can make it all the way." said Kia Graham, Harlem Left Fielder.

One obstacle maybe standing in the Bulldogs way is the youth. This Harlem team only features three seniors.

"The seniors mean a lot to me. They've taught me how to get ready to play and how to be a leader to all these other girls coming up." said Graham.

"They're a good group of girls. They are a lot of fun to play with and they make it enjoyable." said Kaleigh McNair, Harlem Senior Pitcher.

"Most of these girls know what they're doing. We're good friends with all of them, but as seniors we have to be leaders." said Skye Slagle, Harlem Senior First Baseman.
