GQ: When Is The Last Time We Had Significant Rain?

By Jeff Rucker jrucker@nbcaugusta.com

The drought is on a lot of people's minds because it seems like it never rains in Georgia-Carolina anymore!

Cindy from Columbia County wants to know how long it's been since we've gotten a significant amount of rain.

The answer to this Good Question is, not as long as you may think. Our last significant rainfall at Augusta Regional Airport, the area's official weather station, occurred fairly recently on October 24. The rainfall total was 0.63 inch.

The last time we had rainfall totaling more than an inch in one day at the airport was all the way back on July 30. The total then was 1.06 inch.

There are only a couple of slight chances for rain in our area during the next week.
