Tropical Depression Ida is moving north over the western Caribbean Sea and will probably reach tropical storm strength later today. Ida should then move into the Gulf of Mexico by Monday. A cold front moving into the Southeast late Monday or early Tuesday should keep Ida over the Gulf next week.

Tropical development becomes much less likely in November as oceans continue to cool and as the jet stream becomes much more active. The primary development area extends from the north Caribbean Sea across the southern Bahamas and into the Bermuda area. The Atlantic hurricane season officially ends November 30.
