Question:

What is the difference between a typhoon and a hurricane?

Answer:

There is no physical difference at all!

By tradition, tropical storms are called Hurricanes in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific oceans. In the western Pacific, tropical storms are called Typhoons. The same storms are called Cyclones in the Indian Ocean. Some folks in Australia still call tropical storms Willy-Willys.
