New Reports Show Global Cooling Trend

New scientific studies suggest a trend that may have started in the late 1990s. The earth may be cooling.

The Hadley Centre for Climate Change, part of the UK Met Office, tracks global temperature and shows a big drop in global temperature anomalies since January 2007. Based on the HadCRUT3 system of observed temperatures, global surface temperature anomalies have been trending down since 2001. January 2008 had the coldest anomaly since 1995.

Temperature anomaly is the difference between observed temperature and the average temperature for the same time over a period of years.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the HadCRUT3 temperature grids to make this intriguing plot of trends since 1988. Note the large drop in global temperature anomaly over the past year

Closer to home, Dr John Christy of the University of Alabama, Huntsville, uses NASA data to track global temperatures. His latest report suggests that compared to seasonal norms, January 2008 was the coldest month since July 2006 and the coldest January since 2000.

Anecdotal evidence of the cooling trend is noted by record season snowfall totals and low temperatures over large portions of the northern Hemisphere. Please visit the NOAA Climate website for more information.

The scariest part is that these foolish psuedo-scientists have suggested putting aerosol into the upper atmosphere and placing sun umbrellas in space. Real scientists make hypotheses and test them again and again and again. These idiots think computer models can be used in place of real data. Sadly, peopel will think science is wrong and ignore the fact that it is just these psuedo-scientists that are wrong because they don't want to follow the rigors of performing true scientific experiments.

What exactly is a legitimate scientist? And if a scientist does not take into account the primary source of radiation reaching the Earth's surface or the effects of the massive dueling magnetic dynamos (the Sun and the Earth) or the effect of cosmic rays in a climate model... how can that scientist be called legitimate?? AGW supporter... My computer model predicts the Earth is warming ---- Real data... The Earth is cooling --- AGW supporter... Ignore the real data!

Global warming is another story sensationalized by the media for the ignorant masses who can't think for themselves. For the last hundred years, memebers of the scientific community have ventured into this topic, each time resulting in mass media hysteria of global COOLING and WARMING. Only this time the liberal left has decieved enough people to push there socialist, anti-capitalist agenda.

Global Warming believers never explain the huge drops in the 1960s. They also don't look back beyond the 1880s because if they look back far enough, they'll plainly see large scale CYCLES that show warming/cooling trends that indicate nothing special is happening right now. We just ended a warming period and are heading to a cool off period again. Pushing agendas to make millions on LIMITED data is unethical, IMO. Man's ego leads to this idea he MUST cause everything that happens around him.

It's amazing how wedded to a belief people become. There have always been scientists who have said there MAY be man-made global warming, but it's not a proven phenomenon. Sun spot activity COULD be a cause -- keep an open mind! Don't forget how many MILLIONS Gore and others have made off "Global warming."

There is no solid evidence of global warming. If you have spent lots of time in the field, you are aware how temperature observations are skewed to the warm side by the official observers, unintentionally or intentionally. I don't recall seeing any unbiased remote sensor observations supporting global warming. Global warming is somewhat like believing in aliens to the slightly less gullible.

Man has not caused global warming. We are now in a cooling off period due to very low solar activity. We all know that the sun has an 11 year cycle, there is also a 110 year harmonic cycle. The sun is now coming down to the bottom of that 110 year cycle and as consequence we will experience a cool period fro the next 30 years.

DC, wake up and read some science. Global warming is a real trend that has been in evidence since the 70's. Most legitimate scientists will agree with these facts. This is the scam - note the details. "Global cooling trend" is trying to make it sound like global warming has reversed. Instead, it's just more cold spikes - predicted by overall warming model!
