Storms knock out power to thousands in Georgia

More than a thousand Georgia Power customers in the Augusta area are without power.

A spokesman for the company says most of the outages are in the Wheeler Road area of Richmond County. NBC Augusta also received reports of power outages in the Martinez area around Flowing Wells Road and Bobby Jones Expressway. They were caused by storms.

In Atlanta, more than 150,000 customers were without power Saturday evening.
