Heat Advisory in effect again Wednesday

By Rich Rogers rrogers@nbcaugusta.com

A Heat Advisory has been issued for a large part of the Augusta-Aiken area again for Wednesday afternoon.

The advisory includes the counties of Richmond, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie, Jenkins, Screven, Burke, Aiken, Barnwell, Edgefield, McCormick, Allendale, and Bamberg. A Heat Advisory means that extremely hot temperatures are expected.

Augusta's high temperature Wednesday is forecasted to reach 101 degrees, while the heat index, which accounts for the amount of moisture in the air, will reach 110 degrees. Tuesday's high topped out at 100.

If possible, try to avoid spending extended periods of time outdoors and drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated. If you must spend time outdoors, try to take breaks in an air conditioned building or vehicle.
