A spring-like low pressure system raced across Georgia and South Carolina Wednesday, bringing much-needed rain to the drought-stricken Augusta area.
Rain began around 7 p.m. Tuesday over parts of the Augusta area, and some spots north of Augusta picked up almost 2 inches of rain before midnight. Most of the rain ended by 2pm Wednesday.
The storm system that brought the rain is very unusual for this time of year. This type of weather pattern is more common during the winter and spring.
