Southeast Ga. lashed by Fay

FOLKSTON, Ga. (AP) - Tropical Storm Fay has toppled trees onto
several homes and flooded some roads with drenching rain in parts
of southeast Georgia as the storm makes it way across northern
Florida.

Charlton County emergency management director Monroe Todd said
seven homes in the county were damaged by falling trees. One tree
split a mobile home in half and fell onto the owner while he slept.
Todd said the man wasn't seriously injured.

Police closed the pier on St. Simons Island as turbulent waters at high tide sent waves crashing over it. Some roads near the beach had minor flooding.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency spokesman Ken Davis says the agency has had no reports of significant flooding or damage from
Fay, which is forecast to bypass Georgia's southwestern corner
Saturday morning.
