Heavy rain likely in north Georgia through Wednesday

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (AP) - The National Weather Service in
Peachtree City has issued a flood watch for parts of Georgia.

The forecast calls for heavy rain through Wednesday afternoon.
The flood watch is in effect for portions of north Georgia.

The Weather Service says areas of north Georgia could receive 4
inches or more of rain by Wednesday. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
had fallen by 5 a.m. Tuesday across some northern counties.

The forecast for the metro Atlanta area calls for a 90 percent chance of rain Tuesday, increasing to near 100 percent Tuesday night.

The Weather Service says many streams and creeks are rising
because of the rainfall, with some spilling out of their banks.
