AUGUSTA, Ga. - September is over, and so is the heat--at least for now!

The area has been enjoying more fallish weather during the last couple of days of September, but it felt more like summer most of the month with warm temperatures and high humidity.

Overall, temperatures at Augusta Regional Airport averaged 1.3 degrees warmer than the 1971-2000 average. The warmest days of the month were Sept. 5 and 6 when the high reached 92. The last time the high was in the 90s was Sept. 25 with a high of 91.

Rainfall was very close to normal for the month. The total amount of rain recorded at the airport was 3.63 inches. The average amount for the 30-year period of 1971-2000 was 3.59 inches. The wettest day of the month was Sept. 26, when 0.92 inch of rain fell.
